Transformative Three-Year Grant

This month, we were over the moon to receive news of a significant three-year grant for our work in East Africa from an amazing foundation who prefer to keep their name private. These funds will be truly transformational for our disability projects, enabling us to advance our ambitious three-year vision for the region – not only providing care and resources, but also shifting attitudes and improving understanding.

This foundation has been our partner since 2020, and together we have achieved truly amazing things so far. Thanks to their incredible support, we were able to set up New Hope Rehabilitation Center (NHRC), which has since gained regional and national recognition as one of the leading outpatient rehabilitation centers in Uganda. In 2022, we expanded our partnership, launching our ambitious Nutrition and Agriculture Livelihood Project, which improved the food security of 1,100 vulnerable refugee households,with a particular focus on people with disabilities.

Now, as we take the next step on our partnership journey together, we could not be more excited for what the future holds. These funds will facilitate the continued provision and expansion of our New Hope disability services (including prosthetic and orthotic services, wheelchair provision, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, community based rehabilitation, and mobile rehabilitation clinics), and our Nutrition and Agriculture project (enabling us to reach new beneficiaries and launch a new education component of the project). They will also enable us to make important investments in our HHA East Africa team - like hiring more in-country leadership and supporting staff with mentorship and training - that will make the organization more sustainable and effective.

We are so grateful to our wonderful partner, whose involvement in our East Africa projects has not only transformed thousands of lives, but also made a lasting impact on the future of our organization, and our capacity to achieve even more going forward.
