Matched May: Results are in!

Matched May was nothing short of incredible. Thanks to the kindness, passion and faith of hundreds of people, over the course of just one month, we received $112,500 in donations – enabling us to unlock $112,500 of match funds. That means we will receive a mind-blowing $225,000 for our global disability projects!

Not since the devastating earthquake in 2010 have we witnessed such a large-scale movement of generosity. We want to say an enormous THANK YOU to every single person and group across the globe that made Matched May the success it was: to Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, who championed the campaign; to the BBC, through whom we were able to reach thousands of listeners through our Radio 4 Appeal at the start of the month; to the incredibly generous donor that provided unlimited match funds; to our amazing campaign ambassadors, team and trustees, who got behind the campaign with their whole hearts; to our church partners, for their unwavering faith, support and prayers; and, of course, to every single person that donated, fundraised, and shared. You have been part of an historic movement that will make a genuine, tangible difference to the lives of thousands of people.

HHA co-founder and CEO, Carwyn, says: "On behalf of all our team around the world, I cannot thank you enough. Thanks to God’s faithfulness and your amazing generosity through this campaign, lives will be transformed and saved." We are so excited about what we’ll be able to do with these funds, which will support our global mission, including...

  • Enabling us to provide wheelchairs, custom-made prosthetics and orthotics, and rehabilitation to people with disabilities in South Sudan and the refugee settlements of northern Uganda.
  • Providing health and nutrition education from our centers in Uganda and South Sudan, with the aim of empowering beneficiaries to improve their wellbeing in the long term.
  • Supporting the children, staff and carers at our respite home for children with disabilities in Haiti – providing care, education, and rehabilitation, especially as we move the center to a new home.
  • Reaching more people with disabilities with our agriculture projects in the Ugandan refugee settlements – providing seeds, tools, land, and farming & business training, to give them a sustainable source of not only food, but also income.
  • Supporting the setup of our spinal cord injury rehabilitation center at our new Haiti Hub, where we’ll provide specialized care that is extremely difficult to access in this part of the country.
  • Providing wheelchairs and training across Haiti through our amazing network of local partners, giving mobility and dignity to people with disabilities – the majority of whom have never had a wheelchair before.

Your generosity will enable us to do all of this and more – and we can’t wait to update you on the impact of your support. In the meantime, on behalf of all the people that will be touched by what you came together to achieve in May, thank you.
